Jazz by the Sea Festival on the Pier

Jazz by the Sea Festival is returning to Bournemouth this summer.

Key West will be hosting a live music event as part of Jazz by the Sea Festival on Saturday 7 July at 7pm.

Local four piece band, Scared of Jazz, will be bringing their Hammond-infused live show to the pier. The show will be kicking off at 7pm with a 45 minute set, followed by another 45 minutes set after a short break. Jazz by the Sea Festival Scared of Jazz

The band will be joined by a female vocalist for the evening when they’ll be playing renditions of jazz and RnB favourites. Expect covers of classic tunes such as ‘Green Onions’, ‘Back at the Chicken Shack’ and ‘Night Train’ – tracks guarantee to make you want to dance!

The line up features John Ackroyd on Hammond organ and vocals; Charlie Farran on Drums; Ray Russell on upright bass and Phil Beards on guitar.

All four band-members spent time in cover bands playing rock, blues, and rhythm & blues but wanting to play with a jazz feel. Each had something to bring to the new mix.

In their own words, “Moving into jazz is trepidatious, exciting and why we are called ‘Scared of Jazz’. The good news is, we are not scared anymore…..so join us for the ride.”
